Catching Up

Anyone who has stopped to look at this blog has noticed none of the photos are visible. I took down photos I had on Picassa, Webshots, and Kodak as those sites either changed or disappeared. My apologies!

Much has happened is the past four years since I last blogged. The biggest events were moving three times, divorcing, learning I had several heart blockages, beginning cardiac rehab, and deciding to have bariatric surgery (The Gastric Sleeve). The divorce took place in January, rehab ends September 3rd, and surgery takes place September 9th. I'm excited!

I've lost 34 pounds since I enrolled in the bariatric program (44 pounds from my highest ever weight) and begin my pre-op diet on August 26th (only two days away)! I've already had to have the pressure changed on my C-PAP and have given away most my clothes to a friend, who just had the RNY last month but started out heavier than me, and am wearing a new (temporary) wardrobe of my mother's hand-me-downs and items from a clothes-swap through my bariatric support group. I cut my hair into a new style and people are already telling me I look 10-15 years younger these days. I can't begin to imagine what it will be like a year from now!

But that isn't why I'm doing this. I want to improve my health and live longer. I want to say goodbye to diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, high cholesterol, high triglycerides, sleep apnea, and to decrease my pain level from my osteo-arthritis. I want to live longer than the age of 60! I want to be able to play easily with my three-year old great niece and her new little brother and the great nephew due next month. I want to be able to walk around and do fun things like other people. I don't want to be the one who is always sitting on the bench watching from the sidelines or has to say "no" to attending an event because of my size.

I will try to keep up with my blogging for those who want to follow my progress.
